We have an exciting opportunity for a Governance Advisor to join Team Mack
About the role / Ko te mahi nei
As our Governance Advisor you will provide specialist and high-quality governance support, advice and services to the Council's elected members on governance matters, agenda, minutes, meeting requirements, and decision-making processes that facilitate the effective management of Council and committee meetings.
This role ensures that governance processes are transparent, compliant with legislation, and efficiently executed. The advisor plays a key role in meeting management, policy development, and stakeholder engagement.
About you / Ko Koe Tēnei:
- A minimum of 2 or more years experience in a similar role
- An understanding of legislation and procedures including the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987, the Local Government Act 2002, the Local Electoral Act 2001 and Council's Standing Orders
- Demonstrated and proven experience in minute taking
- Demonstrated ability to understand interpret legislation
- Solid written and verbal communication skills and abilities
- Strong organisational and time management capabilities

This is a full time, permanent role (40 hours per week) based out of our Fairlie office, however you will need to be able to travel in and around Te Manahuna (the Mackenzie) to attend various meetings such as Council Meetings, Council Workshops and Community Board meetings.
