Lake Tekapo Village is a photographer’s dream come true and a must-see destination for every visit to the Mackenzie region. The backdrop for all activities is the amazing turquoise blue colour of New Zealand’s highest large lake, scenic Lake Tekapo.

The township is home to a population of a little over 350 residents and welcomes many visitors from New Zealand are further afield.

Tekapo offers a primary school and a kindergarten, and secondary school students can take the bus into Fairlie.

There are plenty of cafe's and eateries - just what you need after a brisk walk alongside the lake, to the summit of Mt John or a cycle ride around Tekapo Regional Park.

With views over the lake, the Southern Alps as a backdrop and our Dark Sky Reserve status it's a dream location for photographers and astronomers.
