About the Role (Permanent, Part Time – 20 hours per week)

We are on the hunt for a Finance Support Officer – Revenue to join our Finance team with Mackenzie District Council based in Fairlie.

This is a varied role where you’ll play an important part in keeping Council’s day-to-day revenue functions running smoothly. You’ll look after accounts receivable, banking and reconciliations, while also supporting rates activities and working with people across Council and our community.

What you’ll be doing

No two days will be quite the same, responsibilities include:

• Managing accounts receivable, including invoicing, debtor accounts and monthly statements

• Completing debtor, bank, cash and EFTPOS reconciliations

• Processing daily banking and internet payments

• Following up outstanding accounts and arranging repayment plans where required

• Responding to debtor and ratepayer enquiries

• Processing rates rebates, changes of address and notices of sale

• Providing support with rates instalment and penalty processing

• Helping maintain and improve our finance and revenue processes and systems

About you

You’ll be someone who enjoys working with numbers, takes pride in getting the details right and can confidently manage a range of tasks and deadlines.

You’ll also be comfortable working with people. Whether you’re responding to a ratepayer enquiry, following up an account or working with another team, you’ll bring a helpful and professional approach.

Ideally, you’ll have:

• At least three years’ experience in a similar finance support role, or five years’ general administration experience

• NCEA Level 3 (or equivalent), including Mathematics/Numeracy standards

• Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and ERP systems

• Confidence working with figures and excellent attention to detail

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships

• A willingness to learn and look for ways to improve how we work.
